Cookie Policy
Last updated: 18 June 2026
WhoIsComing uses a small number of cookies: two that are strictly necessary or functional, and one optional cookie used to measure whether our advertising brings people to the site. We do not embed any third-party tracking scripts.
Cookies We Use
| Name | Type | Expiry | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| session | Strictly necessary | 7 days | Keeps you signed in after clicking a magic link. The cookie stores a random session token; your email is never stored in the cookie. Set as HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax. |
| lang | Functional | 1 year | Remembers your chosen display language (EN / HU) so you don't have to select it on every visit. |
| cookie_consent | Functional | 1 year | Stores your cookie preference ("Got it" or "Opt out") so the notice does not reappear after you have made a choice. |
| _gclid | Marketing measurement | 90 days | Set when you arrive via a Google Ads link. Stores the Google click identifier (gclid) so we can measure whether our advertising led to a new account being created. No personal data is stored in the cookie — only the opaque click ID assigned by Google. You can remove this cookie at any time by clicking Opt out in the notice at the bottom of any page. |
Consent and Opt-Out
The session and lang cookies do not require consent under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive: the session cookie is strictly necessary for the Service to function, and the language cookie stores only a non-personal preference.
The _gclid cookie is set on arrival when you follow a Google Ads link. A notice is shown at the bottom of every page until you make a choice. Clicking Got it records your acceptance; clicking Opt out deletes the cookie and prevents it from being set again. If you take no action the cookie persists for 90 days; you can also delete it at any time in your browser settings.
Third-Party Cookies
We do not embed any third-party scripts (such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or advertising networks) that would set their own cookies on your device. The _gclid value is transmitted to Google server-side only when a new account is created, as part of offline conversion reporting.
How to Control Cookies
You can view, block, or delete cookies at any time using your browser settings. Note that blocking the session cookie will prevent you from staying signed in. Instructions for common browsers:
